Attendance
Running attendance for shift-based teams without the spreadsheets
Rotas, clock-ins and overtime get messy fast. Here is how to keep them accurate and feed payroll automatically.

Shift-based teams are where attendance tracking breaks. Rotas change, people swap shifts, someone covers a night at short notice, and by month end the spreadsheet no longer matches what anyone actually worked.
Three things to get right
- One rota, one source. If the schedule lives in a group chat, it is not a schedule. Publish it somewhere people and managers both see the same version.
- Clock-ins that people will use. A phone check-in with location beats a wall device no one remembers to use. The goal is honest data, not a device.
- Overtime rules set once. Decide what counts, at what rate, and let the system apply it, so payroll is not a negotiation.
Let attendance feed payroll
The real win is not the tracking. It is that hours, absences and overtime flow straight into the pay run without being retyped. That is where the errors, and the disputes, disappear.
EvateHR Attendance handles rotas, clock-ins and overtime and syncs them to Payroll automatically. Managers see who is in right now, and finance sees exactly what was worked when the run closes.
